Anne Hathaway is debuting the first song from her new pop star movie.

On Thursday, March 5, A24 announced that a single from Hathaway's upcoming psychological thriller Mother Mary titled "Burial" has landed on all streaming services.

The song, which was written by Hathaway, 43, alongside real-life pop star Charli xcx, Charli's husband (and The 1975 drummer) George Daniel and Jack Antonoff, is a synth-pop track that features sweeping vocals from Hathaway and a repeated refrain: "This is your burial."

A24 released the song alongside a 30-second YouTube video from Mother Mary titled Greatest Hits (Official Album Teaser), which shows Hathaway in character as she performs songs like "Burial" onstage in front of a crowd.

The video and song release are the first promotional items A24 has released for Mother Mary since December's trailer.

Hathaway costars in the movie with Michaela Coel, Hunter Schafer, Atheena Frizzell, Kaia Gerber, Jessica Brown Findlay, Alba Baptista, Isaura Barbé-Brown, Sian Clifford and FKA twigs.

"Long-buried wounds rise to the surface when iconic pop star Mother Mary reunites with her estranged best friend and former costume designer Sam Anselm (Coel, 38) on the eve of her comeback performance," reads a synopsis for the movie.

Hathaway spoke about her experience making Mother Mary in Vogue's August 2025 cover story. The outlet wrote that Hathaway's character is "a sort of Gaga-Taylor Swift hybrid" who seeks out a friend "who helped craft her all-consuming public persona in the first place" when she reaches a low point in her career. The actress said in that interview that she went to significant lengths to embody the personality of a majorly successful recording artist.

“I had to submit to being a beginner. The humility of that — showing up every day knowing you’re going to suck. And it has to be okay. You’re not ‘bad.’ You’re just a beginner," she told Vogue. "Getting to that mindset — I had to shed some things that were hard to shed. It was welcome. But it was hard, the way transformational experiences can be hard.”

Mother Mary is in limited theaters April 17, then nationwide April 24.
