- Art Garfunkel shares the secret to his lasting 38-year marriage to Kathryn "Kim" Luce, a former model.

- "We never let a fight last," he revealed. "I can't live without my wife being in accord."

- Garfunkel, 84, is currently on a five-month tour, his first in seven years.

In the Garfunkel home, the sound of silence doesn't last long after a disagreement.

Folk legend Art Garfunkel has been married to former model Kathryn "Kim" Luce since 1988 and they share two adult sons, Art Jr. and Beau. Now empty nesters with their youngest attending Berklee College of Music, Garfunkel is sharing the secret to their 38-year marriage.

"We never get into a fight that lasts," the songwriter told *PEOPLE*. "If we go to sleep and we've fought, we make it up the next morning so it wouldn't be two days in a row of turning our back on each other. We never let a fight last. I can't live without my wife being in accord."

The Garfunkels met in 1985 on set of his film *Good to Go*, a crime thriller starring the "Bridge Over Troubled Water" singer as a journalist investigating a murder. Three years later, they married at the Brooklyn Botanic Garden.

The start of a new chapter closed a dark period for Garfunkel, after a public fallout with his musical partner Paul Simon and poor sales of his own solo record *Scissors Cut*. In his personal life, Garfunkel was also dealing with the death of his longtime girlfriend, photographer Laurie Bird.

"I'm crazy about my wife," the 84-year-old singer gushed to *PEOPLE* amid his *What a Wonderful World* tour. "It all changed [when I met her]. That was the end of putting me in the center of my life. Now I'm giving to another. I'm one of two."

Like her talented husband, Kim is also a singer and has shared the stage with him on several occasions. In 1994, she joined him for a duet of "The Water Is Wide" at a New York concert. "I want to bring out my beautiful co-vocalist and my wife," Garfunkel told the crowd at Artpark.

The couple passed down their love of music to Art Jr., 35, and Beau, 20, who were often serenaded by their famous father ("Scarborough Fair" was a favorite). In 2024, the Garfunkels all performed as a quartet for their residency at New York's Carlyle Cafe. Also that year, Art Sr. and Jr. collaborated on the aptly titled album, *Father and Son*.

"I come from a great family and I always thought that that's a major part of life, to have a family," Garfunkel revealed to *PEOPLE*. "I experienced it in a wonderful way when I was a kid."

As he headlines his first major tour in seven years, Kim and the boys are his biggest fans and they're especially overjoyed to see he has the "health and gumption" to pull off the five-month *What a Wonderful World* tour, which concludes on Nov. 19 in Illinois.

"It's about the family. It's my kids. It's about going back on stage," mused Garfunkel. "Freud says your work life and your love life is everything. My love life is so free of trouble. I'm so happy. And my work life is very exciting now. So it's a good time."
