A recent shooting inside a Coweta County, Georgia, apartment left one person dead after a struggle over a handgun as the victim tried to stop a suicide attempt.
Police arrested 27-year-old Briana Nicole Roberts inside the residence at the Creekside at White Oak Apartments in Newnan, Georgia — about 40 miles southwest of Atlanta — following the incident, which law enforcement officials said stemmed from a dispute between the roommates.
Deputies responded to the scene late Thursday after receiving a report of a disturbance.

First responders entering the home found a body just inside the front entrance and pronounced the person dead at the scene from a gunshot wound, despite initial life-saving efforts by deputies and emergency medical personnel.
According to an incident report from the Coweta County Sheriff’s Office, Roberts retrieved a handgun during the argument and attempted to point it at herself. Investigators believe the fatal shooting occurred when her roommate rushed forward to disarm her, causing the firearm to discharge.
