Kourtney Kardashian took the advice of a surprising person before she married Travis Barker.
On the Thursday, Oct. 22, episode of The Kardashians, the mom of four revealed that something Kanye West told her years ago stuck in her head so much that she followed through on it.
While touring her stepson Landon Barker’s new home for the first time and hearing about the parties he and his roommate planned to throw, the topic of relationships came up, and Kourtney, 47, advised the young men —somewhat sarcastically — to “wait for marriage” before being intimate with someone.
She then shared what West, her brother-in-law from 2014 to 2021 during his marriage to Kim Kardashian, had told her, which was along similar lines. “I remember Kanye told me, ‘I feel like God is calling me to tell you that you should not hook up with any randoms until you are with your husband,’ ” Kourtney said. “And I didn’t.”

After years of friendship, Kourtney started dating Travis, 50, in 2021. They were engaged just a few months later and tied the knot three times — first in Las Vegas without an official marriage license, then in a courthouse ceremony in Santa Barbara and finally in Italy.
In a recent interview, the Blink-182 rocker reflected on the beginning of his romance with Kourtney, as he said their coupling had been brought up by friends numerous times. “We both wanted it to happen, and we knew if it did happen, it would probably be like neither of us would have a choice — we would just be overwhelmed with whatever and fall madly in love,” he said on Billy Corgan’s The Magnificent Others podcast. “And we did.”

“I already loved her as a friend. … I loved her for years. It was someone that was always a friend, that I always thought about,” he said. “When it happened, it was like a perfect symmetry from both of our sides.”
They welcomed son Rocky Thirteen in November 2023, and Travis told PEOPLE in August that their blended family has merged seamlessly. “Fortunately, all of our kids get along,” he said. “Everyone kind of does their own thing. We try to have a lot of normalcy.”

He shares Landon, 23, and daughter Alabama, 20, with ex-wife Shanna Moakler, and remains close with Atiana De La Hoya, Moakler’s daughter with Oscar De La Hoya. Kourtney shares sons Mason, 16, and Reign, 11, plus daughter Penelope, 14, with ex Scott Disick.
“Every Sunday we have family dinner — there’s never a Sunday where we don’t have family dinner,” Travis said. “I love being present. I also love leading by example.”
