- The "Body" rapper commended her costars for "so much respect for the dedication, the stamina, the work ethic, the time and the effort" put into the production at the Al Hirschfeld Theatre.

- Megan's final date was set for May 17, but was moved up to May 1 amid her breakup from NBA pro Klay Thompson.

The final curtain call is near for Broadway's resident hottie.

Megan Thee Stallion, the Grammy-winning rapper who has played the role of Zidler in Broadway's *Moulin Rouge *since March 24, is bowing out early. The "Body" singer was set for her final appearance on May 17, but in a statement shared with * *on Monday, she thanked fans for showing her the grace of allowing her a May 1 exit.

"It's been such an honor to be part of *Moulin Rouge*, and I’ve met so many amazing people in this theater. Y'all work so hard and I have so much respect for the dedication, the stamina, the work ethic, the time and the effort y'all put into the work," she wrote.

"Every single person at the Moulin Rouge has inspired me to go harder as an entertainer. I'm so grateful for the cast and crew that made this experience so meaningful. Y'all are really some of the kindest human beings I've ever met!" she continued. "To all the Hotties that showed up or planned to attend, thank you for supporting me during this incredible journey!"

The musician, born Megan Jovon Ruth Pete, added some details to a nearly identical statement shared to her Instagram later the same day.

"Hotties, my last performance as Zidler in [*Moulin Rouge*] will be May 1 ❤️‍🩹" she wrote over a picture of herself posing with fans outside the Al Hirschfeld Theatre, where *Moulin Rouge *has been playing since 2019 (minus a year-long, pandemic-induced hiatus from 2020-2021).

"I LOVE YALL🥹" she wrote in closing to her fans, whom she affectionately refers to as "hotties." "See you soon 💙."

News of Megan's early exit arrives just two days after she announced her shocking split from boyfriend Klay Thompson.

"I've made the decision to end my relationship with Klay," the rapper said in a statement shared with PEOPLE on April 25. "Trust, fidelity and respect are non-negotiable for me in a relationship, and when those values are compromised, there's no real path forward. I'm taking this time to prioritize myself and move ahead with peace and clarity."

Megan may have left fans to read between the lines of that loaded statement, but she laid her feelings bare earlier in the day in a now-deleted Instagram Stories post. "Cheating, had me around your whole family playing house… got 'cold feet,'" she wrote in the stark text post, per PEOPLE. "Holding you down through all your HORRIBLE mood swings and treatment towards me during your basketball season, now you don't know if you can be 'monogamous????'"

Later that night, Megan received an uproarious standing ovation following her performance in *Moulin Rouge*, which ended in tears.

Based on the 2001 film of the same name, *Moulin Rouge *is a jukebox musical created by John Logan, Craig Pearce, and original film director Baz Luhrmann.

The role of emcee and nightclub owner Harold Zidler was played in the film by Jim Broadbent, and originated in the Boston production of the stage musical, which then moved to Broadway, by Danny Burstein. The whimsical role has since been played by *Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt *star Tituss Burgess, *Whose Line Is it Anyway?*'s Wayne Brady, and *RuPaul*'s *Drag Race *winner Bob the Drag Queen.

Broadway's *Moulin Rouge *is set to close on Aug. 30.
