Miranda Kerr avoided a wardrobe malfunction when her zipper broke as she went to accept an award at the Living Beauty Cancer Foundation's 2026 spring luncheon

"We're all human," Kerr told PEOPLE at the event

The model also opened up about how meditation practices play a big role in her overall healthy lifestyle

Miranda Kerr recovered from a wardrobe emergency like a true pro.

On Wednesday, April 28, the model and entrepreneur, 43, was honored at Living Beauty Cancer Foundation's 2026 spring luncheon in Beverly Hills, Calif. As she made her way to the podium, the zipper at the back of Kerr's butter yellow halter dress suddenly broke.

Despite the mishap, the former Victoria's Secret Angel powered through her speech, making sure to face forward so that the broken zipper wouldn't show. Afterward, she recounted the incident while catching up with PEOPLE.

"I was like, 'My zipper broke. That's why I'm walking like this, not showing my back,'" she said. "But it's still broken, and hopefully I'll be able to get out of it because it couldn't go up and down to fix it. But that's okay."

"We're all human," Kerr added.

During her speech, the Kora Organics founder acknowledged her wardrobe malfunction.

"My zip just broke in the back, but that’s okay, it happens. You're looking at me from the front, and worse things have happened," she said before recalling, "I've actually lost a shoe before. And a heel went flying through the audience. So, lucky that didn't happen today."

The Living Beauty Cancer Foundation is a nonprofit organization dedicated to uplifting and empowering women living with cancer. The luncheon honored Kerr for her commitment to wellness and social impact and raised critical funds to support Living Beauty's holistic wellness and healing programs, offered entirely free of charge to women navigating the cancer journey.

While chatting with PEOPLE at the luncheon, Kerr also revealed that meditation practices play a big role in her overall healthy lifestyle. The model, who's a mom of four boys, shares that her love for the "incredible tool" has rubbed off on her 15-year-old son, Flynn.

"Meditation for me has been such an incredible tool, and I learned when I was 17 how to meditate, and I've been more religious about it probably in the last year than ever," she told PEOPLE. "I don't have the luxury of having 20 minutes twice a day, but I do have the luxury right now of fitting it in the morning before the kids wake up."

"I've taught the kids, [and] they have their own mantra that they were given by my Vedic meditation teacher, and she sat with them. We did a little meditation. She did her little ceremony when we did a meditation together for my 6, 7, and 15-year-old," she explains. "And my 15-year-old is pretty consistent with it. He finds it really grounding and helpful."

Kerr welcomed her son Flynn with ex-husband Orlando Bloom in January 2011. The former couple was together from 2010 to 2013 before Kerr tied the knot with husband Evan Spiegel in 2017. Kerr and Spiegel have since welcomed three kids together — son Hart, who was born in May 2018, and son Myles, who was born in October 2019, followed by Pierre in February 2024.
