Paul Anthony Kelly welcomed his first baby with wife Syd Widziszewski-Kelly this past February

The actor praised his wife for her support during the whirlwind of balancing fatherhood and career success

Kelly and Widziszewski-Kelly married in May 2023 and keep their relationship mostly private with occasional social media posts

Paul Anthony Kelly is enjoying the first few months of parenthood.

The Love Story: John F. Kennedy Jr. and Carolyn Bessette star, 37, spoke with PEOPLE at a recent FYC event on Wednesday, April 29, in New York City and opened up about how he's been balancing the success of the show with becoming a father.

"I cannot speak more highly about my wife and just like the support that she has [given me]...becoming a father during this crazy whirlwind [time] is definitely not without its challenges," says Kelly, who welcomed his first baby with wife Syd Widziszewski-Kelly this past February.

"But the moment I'm home, I'm just present and in dad mode and changing diapers and cleaning up puke and all the good stuff that comes along with it," he continues. "But it is the most magical experience, and I couldn't be happier."

The actor announced that he'd welcomed his first baby with his wife while appearing on The Kelly Clarkson Show in February.

"You just became a dad!” host Kelly Clarkson said. The newly minted dad replied, “I did, yeah. Thank you so much.”

Clarkson went on to ask Kelly if he's tired.

"A little bit. Yeah," he quickly responded with a laugh. "That's like an understatement for sure."

Kelly married Widziszewski-Kelly in May 2023. The couple opt to keep their relationship relatively private, though Kelly has shared a few glimpses into their romance on social media. In May 2024, the star shared a carousel of photos with his wife on Instagram to commemorate their first year together.

"One year ago we tied the proverbial knot and since that day I have been the happiest and healthiest I think I’ve ever been. I love you more than words will ever do justice. To several lifetimes more... X. @sydwidziszewski," wrote Kelly.

Later that day, he shared a carousel of playful photos with his wife on Instagram, captioned, "Love of my life @sydwidziszewski."
