Prince Harry has been advised to "take things slowly" with his relatives after the Duke of Sussex revealed his desire to 'work out' their differences.

Prince Harry took part in a candid interview in New York, in which he admitted he hopes to "reconcile" with his brother, Prince William, and father, King Charles following the family's estrangement since his departure from royal duties in 2020.

He shared in a new interview, "Some people don't want it to work out. I want it to work out. With everything else that's going on in the world, the most important thing is to reconcile - that's the key point." However, approaching one of the year's busiest periods, Christmas, a former royal staff member has cautioned it's "too soon" for the Sussexes to reunite with the family at Sandringham.

Before speaking to GQ, Harry and Meghan Markle recently returned to the UK, but widespread reports suggest they will likely still celebrate the holiday season in the US with Meghan's mother.

The King's former butler, Grand Harrold, who served the royals from 2004 to 2011, shared with GB News, "Despite their recent move back to the UK, I think Meghan and Harry will want to go back to the States for Christmas this year.

It's where their friends and Meghan's family are, so I believe they will want to spend the holidays there, and who can blame them, really.

"They will want to have time with their close friends, as everyone does at Christmas. I'm sure they will do a few events here before they go, but I imagine the day itself will be back in sunny California."

The former staffer also voiced concerns that attempting to "reconcile" over a turkey would be premature.

He explained, "While we're told things are improving behind the scenes, there is still a long way to go, and I don't believe they're at the point of pulling crackers and sharing festive jokes quite yet. It makes sense for them to go home."

"It's a shame, and I really hope they get there next year, but I think it's a good idea to take things slowly for now," Harrold cautioned.

This follows claims from a close friend of the couple who suggested the Sussexes weren't anticipating an invitation to the Sandringham gathering.

The insider revealed, "They know it would be too awkward and too difficult. They also know they're not going to be invited, and they're not waiting for an invitation."
