Queen Camilla almost appeared in Hulu’s popular series, Only Murders in the Building.

John Hoffman, executive producer and showrunner of the series, shared the news during an August 25 interview with Vulture.

“We almost got Camilla,” Hoffman said. “I know it’s insane, but yes, there was a moment.”

In an August 25 interview with Vulture, executive producer and showrunner of Only Murders in the Building, John Hoffman, shared details after confirming the show would be set in the U.K. for its forthcoming sixth season. The show typically takes place in New York City.

“We almost got Camilla,” Hoffman said. “I know it’s insane, but yes, there was a moment.”

When his casting team told him that booking her was an actual possibility, he recalled, “I was like, ‘Wait, what? Is that real?’ Then we kind of went down the road a little bit.”

But the guest appearance never happened due to “strict U.K. union rules” which limit daily shooting times. “You’re only shooting 10-hour days, no more,” Hoffman explained. Since securing the queen, 79, would require lots of “logistical hoops,” he didn’t want to interfere with the show’s tight production schedule.

“I did pursue it a little bit, until I realized it’s going to be a whole thing,” he said.

Hoffman also joked about reaching out to Meghan Markle, who is set to move back to the U.K. with her husband, Prince Harry, and their two children: Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet.

“When is she traveling? We’re leaving in three days. I wouldn’t rule anything out,” he said.

Though Camilla likely won’t be appearing in a television show any time soon, Meghan may be gracing the screen in a Netflix project.

According to an August 21 Peoplereport, she is “being eyed” for a role in season three of The Gentlemen, which is filmed in the U.K. Though some outlets have reported that she was “dropped” from the series, People reported on August 24 that the duchess, 45, “remains in talks despite recent reports.”

The series, which has just been renewed for a third season, is helmed by Guy Ritchie, whom Meghan reportedly met through “mutual acquaintances.”

The Gentlemen stars Theo James and Kaya Scodelario, and Variety reported that Season 3 is in pre-production, with scripts (and additional cast members) yet to be finalized.

Meghan has been absent from the acting world since starring in Suits from 2011 to 2018.

In 2023, she spoke about being on the show. “It was great to work on, such a great cast and crew,” she told Variety. “We had a really fun time. I was on it for seven seasons, so quite a bit...But good shows are everlasting.”
