X-rays came back negative for Matthew Stafford's injured finger, NFL Network reported Sunday, a positive sign for the All-Pro quarterback of the Los Angeles Rams.
Following Saturday's 34-31 wild-card playoff victory at Carolina, Stafford told reporters that a finger on his throwing hand got bent backward after hitting the arm of a Panthers defender in the first half.
The 37-year-old MVP candidate said "adrenaline" helped him stay in the game, finishing with 304 yards on 24-of-42 passing with three touchdowns and one interception.
"It wasn't pleasant. It wasn't great. We'll see what it is," said Stafford, who threw the game-winning 19-yard touchdown pass to Colby Parkinson with 38 seconds remaining.
The No. 5 seed in the NFC playoff bracket, the Rams will play the second-seeded Chicago Bears in next weekend's divisional round.
Stafford led the league in passing yards (4,707) and passing touchdowns (46) during the regular season, completing 65%% of his attempts with eight interceptions.
