Rob Kardashian made a rare public appearance for sister Kim’s 46th birthday on Tuesday.

The former reality star looked happy and healthy as he stepped out for dinner in Beverly Hills.

Rob stepped back from Keeping Up With the Kardashians in 2014, after eight seasons.

Kim Kardashian’s siblings all got together to celebrate her 46th birthday, even their super-private brother Rob.

The 39-year-old former reality star made a rare public appearance on Tuesday for a family dinner at Baldi steakhouse in Beverly Hills. Dressed down compared to his super-glam sisters, Rob wore a big smile and an all-black ensemble.

Kim had the paparazzi doing a double take with two identical outfits in different colors. The Skims founder entered the restaurant in an olive green robe-style mini dress and bejeweled headdress from Paco Rabanne’s 1995 fall collection — and left in the same exact design, just in a shade of red.

Her sisters and mother all stuck with one look for the evening: Kourtney Kardashian opted for a purple-colored mini; Kylie Jenner slipped into a dark teal dress; Khloé Kardashian dared to bare in see-through nude sheath; and Kris Jenner was the most over-dressed in a knee-length yellow floral coat.

Kendall Jenner was noticeably absent from the family get-together.

Rob first took a step back from the spotlight in 2014 when he refrained from appearing on Keeping Up With the Kardashians after eight seasons. The following year, he was reportedly hospitalized with diabetes.

“Just because he’s not part of their public lives doesn’t mean that he’s not part of their private lives,” a source told PEOPLE on Thursday after Rob resurfaced. “He’s there for the celebrations, family gatherings, and all the important moments. He’s a great dad and a wonderful uncle.”

Rob, who also doesn’t appear on the family’s new Hulu series, The Kardashians, opened up about his retreat from public life last year on Khloé’s Wonder Land podcast.

“I don’t wanna be filming and putting myself in a position where I’m not comfortable,” he explained. “I’m not comfortable in my skin, so why would I wanna go be on camera and just be vulnerable and let people in when that’s not what I wanna do? I’m not just gonna put myself out there if I’m not comfortable with myself.”

Rob continued, “I haven’t been comfortable with myself for years, and, also, filming and doing all that, it’s not for everybody. I choose my own happiness and peace rather than just filming for somebody who doesn’t do anything for me in my personal life.”
