Slayyyter Cancels Tour Dates to Prevent ‘Further Damage’ After Losing Her Voice: ‘I’m Devastated’

Doctors advised Slayyyter to cancel shows in Copenhagen and Hamburg after she fully lost her voice

The singer plans to resume her European tour in Warsaw on Oct. 24 with refunds available for canceled dates

Slayyyter is taking a step back from the stage.

The “brand new chanel$” singer, 30, was forced to cancel two upcoming tour dates on doctors’ orders after she lost her voice, she said on her Instagram Stories on Wednesday, Oct. 21.

“Hey guys - I fully lost my voice and doctors are recommending that I cancel Copenhagen and Hamburg shows to protect further damage,” she wrote. “I’m devastated and wanted to play for you but I just can’t deliver a proper show.”

Slayyyter (real name Catherine Garner) was scheduled to perform at Vega in Copenhagen on Thursday, Oct. 22 and at Fabrik in Hamburg on Friday, Oct. 23. The cancellation comes after she played in Paris on Oct. 18, Amsterdam on Oct. 19 and Cologne, Germany on Oct. 20.

“Tour will resume in Warsaw on the 24th after I have a chance to regain my voice,” she wrote. “I’m so sorry and hope to make it up to you soon. I love you guys so much. Refunds will be available to the point of purchase.”

The musician is set to play in Warsaw on Saturday, Oct. 24 and continue on with sold-out shows in Europe through Nov. 5, making stops in Prague, Berlin and the U.K. She’ll pick things back up in Sydney, Australia on Feb. 12, 2027, and she has shows scheduled through next June, when she’ll play a sold-out headlining show at Madison Square Garden on June 21.

Earlier this month, she announced her upcoming album wor$t man in america, a counterpart to her hit record WOR$T GIRL IN AMERICA.

A press release said all of the songs on the record are new, but are connected to the world previously established on WOR$T GIRL IN AMERICA; some are direct inversions, while others “revisit familiar ideas from an entirely new angle, creating a parallel narrative that both mirrors and challenges the original project.”

The show cancellations come as posts containing racist language that the musician made as a teenager have resurfaced on social media. Slayyyter previously issued an apology in 2020 the first time the posts surfaced, saying at the time she “would use slurs and say other things online” in the past because she thought she was being “funny or edgy,” but has since matured and realized “it’s never funny or cool to use those words under any circumstances.”

The star losing her voice also comes shortly after Role Model was forced to first postpone, then cancel the final show of his Chuck on Tour on Oct. 19 after losing his voice to illness.

Charli xcx also canceled the penultimate show on her Music, Fashion, Film Tour because she was sick, and Lily Allen abruptly canceled a show in Auckland, New Zealand due to a viral infection.

“i am so so sorry to say we have to cancel tomorrow’s music fashion film show,” Charli wrote on her Instagram Stories. “i have been fighting sickness throughout this run of shows and have now completely lost my voice.”

She continued, “i put absolutely everything i have into my performances, both physically and emotionally, and it breaks me that i can’t be with you tomorrow.”
