Princess Kate and Prince William are settling comfortably into their new home at Forest Lodge.
Late last year, the Prince and Princess of Wales expedited their move from Adelaide Cottage into their new mansion in Windsor Great Park, which has been deemed their “forever home” (they reportedly plan to stay there even once William eventually becomes king).

Now, new reports suggest that the family is adjusting well to their bucolic abode. “It marks the beginning of a new chapter in their life,” royal biographer and broadcaster Katie Nicholl told The Mirror. “It feels like the perfect fit for them and the Palace seem to be making it clear that this is where they’re going to base themselves for the coming years.”

Nicholl notes that the proximity to their work, and to Kate’s family, is an added plus for the couple as well. “It’s conveniently close to Windsor, and close enough to London for when they need to be there for work. It’s also closer to Kate’s parents, who we know are such an important part of their lives,” she said. “They seem to prefer smaller residences; homes that offer a more intimate family setting than giant, ostentatious palaces. Forest Lodge isn’t a small property, but it isn’t on the same scale as Apartment 1A at Kensington Palace, for example.”

Forest Lodge, while not on the same scale as Kensington Palace, is nearly double the size of the Wales’ previous family residence. The eight-bedroom home boasts amenities like a tennis court, a pond, and a garden, as well as the benefit of more privacy for the family, too.
As Kate began decorating the home late last year, it was reported by royal historian Amanda Foreman that her approach is much more focused on her and William’s three children—Prince George, 12, Princess Charlotte, 10, and Prince Louis, 8—who will be growing up there. According to Tatler, the Princess of Wales is going for a “contemporary classic” look.
