This is a continuing series examining the 2026 Arizona high school football season. We have looked at the top 10 quarterbacks, running backs, wide receivers, athletes (two-way players), and dynamic duos.
Now we break down the top 10 tight ends to see. The position has changed over the last decade, with offenses wide open and tight ends used as wideouts and in the slot. But they still have to block and they still have to make the tough red-zone catches.

The Republic's top 10 tight ends
1. Torrin Hill, Centennial, 6-3, 210, Jr.
He has made big gains every year since starting on varsity as a freshman. He's got great hands and a feel for how to get open in the secondary. Will take on big safeties and find a way to make catches in traffic. He can also get free for the deep ball.
2. Talan Scott, ALA Queen Creek, 6-4, 230, Sr.
He's a spectacular athlete who will also line up as an edge rusher on defense. No fear crossing the middle to make the big catch. He wins the 50-50 balls in the red zone.
3. Brady Powell, Brophy Prep, 6-5, 235, Jr.
Brophy will have a new quarterback, who will surely make Powell a top target with his ability to go after the ball and break free from tacklers for big gains. He's also a very good run blocker.
4. Mekhi Hodge, Mountain Pointe, 6-3, 220, Sr.
Since transferring in last year from Cactus Canyon (formerly Cesar Chavez), he's developed significantly. He may also be found on defense this year as a pass rusher. Big, physical, sure-handed target who has the athleticism to make big plays every time he touches the ball.
5. Henry Tauscher, San Tan Charter, 6-4, 230, Sr.
One of the best athletes in the state, who also is a long snapper. He's a game changer with his ability to break tackles and make big catches downfield. He'll be used all over the place on offense and defense. He might even line up in the backfield as an H-back.

6. Gage Scheurn, Chandler, 6-5, 210, Jr.
He is a hybrid tight end/wide receiver who will line up wide, in the slot and in tight. Athletic and elusive, another big target for arguably the best quarterback in the state in Will Mencl.
7. Jayden Windom, Red Mountain, 6-4, 225, Jr.
After 350 yards and five touchdowns receiving as a sophomore, watch for a breakout season for Windom, who has the size, speed and strength to become an elite tight end. He'll be targeted quite a bit in what should be a dynamic offense.
8 Davian Whitener, Desert Mountain, 6-3, 230, Sr.
Great target in the crunch, he'll catch anything in his vicinity. He is also a top defender, but his college calling appears to be at tight end. He helped the Wolves capture the 5A championship last year.
9. Max Germaine, Mesa Mountain View, TE, 6-4, 205, Sr.
Coach Andy Litten likes to make good use of his tight ends and he's in good hands with Germaine, who has all the tools to become elite. He's also a top baseball player.
10. Nick Trocki, Chaparral, 6-4, 210, So.
He is moving from wide receiver to tight end this year and should be his twin brother Ryan Trocki's favorite target. Great in the red zone, using his athleticism and size to beat the defenders. Watch for a huge uptick in development.
