Why Jennifer Lawrence Isn’t at the 2026 Actor Awards

Jennifer Lawrence isn’t at the Actor Awards tonight as she is filming What Happens at Night with Leonardo DiCaprio in Europe.

The star last attended the ceremony in 2014.

Lawrence isn’t up for any awards this evening and spoke about what happened in her group chat with Emma Stone, a contender for Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Leading Role, when nominations were announced.

Jennifer Lawrence hasn’t been at the Actor Awards, formerly known as the SAG Awards, since 2014. This year won’t mark her grand return, either. The Hollywood Reporter revealed that Lawrence and her co-star, Leonardo DiCaprio, won’t be at the Los Angeles ceremony this evening as they are currently filming Martin Scorsese’s What Happens at Night in Europe. DiCaprio has two nominations for One Battle After Another, including Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Leading Role.

Lawrence didn’t receive any nominations this year, but she has What Happens at Night upcoming along with The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping, which will be released on Nov. 20, 2026. Both projects will be eligible for future awards shows.

When this year’s Actor Awards nominations were announced in January, the actress was in a group chat with her close friend Emma Stone, who received an Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Leading Role nomination for Bugonia.

Lawrence’s Die My Love didn’t receive any nominations. (The project had earned the actress a Best Performance by a Female Actor in a Motion Picture – Drama nomination at the Golden Globes, which she attended in a transparent Givenchy dress this January.)

The star recalled her and Stone’s playful conversation during her 92NY interview with Josh Horowitz that evening. “We’re in a group chat and she got nominated for a SAG today, and I did not,” Lawrence began. “I wrote ‘WHAT!’ and all her friends were like, ‘Congratulations, Emma,’ and I just did a sad face.”

“Every time she tries to talk today, I’m like, ‘Why are you not saying sorry,’” she continued jokingly. “She’s been beating me for decades, but it’s an honor.”
