As King Charles begins his trip to the United States today, the question of whether or not he will see his younger son, Prince Harry, who now lives in Montecito, California, looms large over the visit.

For those hoping for a father-son reunion, however, it’s highly unlikely that King Charles and Harry will see each other; the King’s schedule is highly scheduled over his four days in Washington, DC, New York, and Virginia, and as soon as his trip concludes, he heads to Bermuda. “When you’re talking about a state visit, every minute is accounted for—especially when it’s the King traveling as the invited guest of a head of state,” a source told People. “Harry knows how things are and wouldn’t ask for that either under these circumstances.”

The last time King Charles and Prince Harry saw each other in person was in September 2025; it took place at Clarence House and lasted for less than an hour. Harry told the BBC last May that he wanted reconciliation with his family. “There’s no point in continuing to fight any more,” the Duke of Sussex said at the time. “Life is precious. I don’t know how much longer my father has. He won’t speak to me because of this security stuff. But it would be nice to reconcile.”

Prince Harry will likely be in the UK this summer for events surrounding the one-year countdown to the 2027 Invictus Games in Birmingham. It’s as yet unclear if he will see his father then—or if Meghan or their children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, will travel with him to the UK.
