The season 5 finale brings Emily back to Paris after a whirlwind season in Rome, but the drama is far from over. Marcello's (Eugenio Franceschini) mother asks him to take over Muratori, the family's luxury fashion label, and he wants Emily to lead its marketing team. This opportunity will take Marcello back to Italy for good, and he hopes Emily goes with him.

They hold off on making any big decisions, but Emily becomes convinced that Marcello is going to propose after she finds a diamond ring in his belongings.

During a gondola ride with Mindy (Ashley Park) and Nico (Paul Forman), Marcello pulls out the ring box. Emily panics and says she can't marry him or leave Paris, but Marcello reveals the ring isn't his — it's Nico's. Nico then proposes to Mindy, and she accepts. Afterwards, Emily and Marcello realize that they want different things in life and go their separate ways.

Later, Emily and Mindy run into Alfie (Lucien Laviscount) in Paris, and he is less than thrilled about Mindy's engagement. Alfie tells Mindy she's making a big mistake, and Emily begins to suspect that Mindy's feelings for him may still be there.

Elsewhere, Sylvie warns Luc and Julien that Agence Grateau is in jeopardy due to her divorce and encourages them to start job hunting. However, the firm is saved when an equity partner steps in at the last minute, though Sylvie tells Emily that changes are coming. That partner is soon revealed to be Princess Jane (Minnie Driver), now the new co-head of Agence Grateau.

The season closes with a return to Gabriel (Lucas Bravo), who's still working as a private chef on a yacht. After learning he has a few weeks off in Greece, he receives a message from Sylvie that Emily and Marcello have split.

Gabriel then sends Emily a postcard (just as she asked him to), which reads, "Emily, as promised… a postcard with a stamp. I'm at sea without you. Meet me in Greece. Yours, Gabriel."

There's no official plot synopsis for season 6 as of this writing, but between Emily's newly single status, Mindy's complicated engagement, and the agency's reorganization, there are no shortage of potential storylines.

The biggest question, of course, is whether Emily will take Gabriel up on his invitation to meet him in Greece. Creator Darren Star told *Deadline* that he hopes she accepts. "[Emily and Gabriel] reconnected in a nice way. [As for] where that takes them, I think it definitely hints at the idea that they'll stay in each other's lives."

As for Mindy, will she go through with marrying Nico, or does she end their engagement to explore things with Alfie? Star teased in an interview with Decider that things could get messy.

"Nicolas was always in Mindy's mind as this fantasy, who really hurt her, and came back and offered her surprisingly everything," he said. "And I think she was really quick to cast Alfie aside as a little bit of a fling when Nico came back in the picture… I think it’s going to complicate the situation. If and when we hear about a season 6, their storyline would be a little messy."

Collins has also shared her hopes for a possible season 6. "I hope we get to go to another season, and I hope I'm going to plan [Mindy's] bachelorette in Greece," she said. "I think no matter where we go — I'm hoping it's Greece, because that would be amazing. It would be with Mindy."

Season 5 newbie Minnie Driver also seems poised to return, especially since it was Princess Jane who saved the agency from going under.
