When the Jackass crew hit MTV, which famously included Johnny Knoxville, Steve-O, Chris Pontius, Wee Man, Ryan Dunn and Bam Margera, TV was changed forever. Outrageous stunts had us glued to the screen, and the more painful, uncomfortable, gross and f—ked up, the more we leaned in.

Now, more than 25 years and four movies later, we get a last hurrah with the release of Jackass: Best and Last (now in theatres), and it's everything a fan could want. From moments MTV refused to air, to new stunts with the older gang, it's a fitting conclusion for a group of people who defined a generation.

If you're a fan of Jackass, this is for you. If you aren't a fan, this movie on its own may not convert you, but it's still a worthy look back at a cultural phenomenon, if that interests you.

Watching this as someone who not only watched Jackass, the show and the movies, but has seen Steve-O's solo live show four times, and then his Bucket List comedy special, it was easy to go along for the ride.

But the movie has a phenomenal opening moment — the very first clip that inspired Jackass.

It started with an idea Knoxville pitched to Jeff Tremaine, the director of Jackass: Best and Last, but in 1997 Tremaine was the editor of the skateboarding magazine "Big Brother." Tremaine sent a cameraman to film Knoxville testing self-defence equipment on himself, including firing a revolver at his own chest while wearing a bulletproof vest.

The movie also has footage MTV refused to air, including a clip originally filmed for the Jackass pilot, when Knoxville goes into a hardware store dressed as an escaped convict and tries to buy a hacksaw to cut off his handcuffs, which results in the police showing up.

Everything about Jackass is about fun, thrills and entertainment. Still, at the risk of getting too sappy about the whole thing, there is something emotional about seeing this group reunite, looking back at these friendships. And it's a little bittersweet to get this closure as a fan, knowing it's the end.

Questions still remain about whether Margera and his Jackass costars will reconcile, after he agreed to have past footage of him used in the film, but didn't reunite with the team for the movie. Only time will tell.

But go to the movie theatres, laugh, cringe and shriek with everyone else in the room watching Jackass: Best and Last, you won't regret it.
