"Saturday Night Live" writer Jimmy Fowlie is sharing an update on his sister, Christina Downer, who went missing four months ago.
In a lengthy statement shared on Instagram Wednesday, April 29, Fowlie said his family was informed by the Los Angeles Police Department that "Christina is no longer alive."
"Our prayers for her to be found safely have transformed into prayers for the truth to be revealed and for those responsible to be held accountable," Fowlie, 40, wrote along with photos of his sister through the years.
The Emmy-winning writer added that the family believes Downer's "phone and social media were compromised" weeks before she went missing, which they feel were used to request money and "create a false narrative that she was going 'off the grid.'"
In a statement to USA TODAY Thursday, an LAPD spokesperson said the department's Robbery-Homicide Division is continuing its investigation of Christina Downer's disappearance, noting that while "the circumstances of her disappearance are suspicious, Ms. Downer has not been located, and her case has not been reclassified as a homicide."
Authorities "will diligently investigate this case until a resolution can be reached," the spokesperson added. "Anyone with information about the case is urged to contact Robbery-Homicide Division at (213) 486-6850."

Fowlie said he is sharing this information because he thinks "whoever is responsible" is trying to "erase her in every way possible" and publicly encouraged anyone with information to come forward.
"I want to amplify her story in the only way I know how. And to express that she was a beautiful person who matters in this world, especially to me," he continued. "My sister can no longer advocate for herself, but I can and I hope you will too."
Jimmy Fowlie attends the premiere of Netflix's "Roommates" at The Egyptian Theatre Hollywood on April 13, 2026, in Los Angeles.
Fowlie revealed on Dec. 22 that Downer, 38, was missing and hadn't been heard from since late November. She was last seen in Los Angeles.
"Thank you for all your continued support during this terrible time," Fowlie captioned his post, which received support from his comic community. "I'm gonna take a step back from social media due to the intense overwhelming feelings. Please take any info you may have directly to LAPD and not me."
